Frontline Plus for Dogs 11 to 22 lbs
This is a medicated ointment designed to kill 98% to 100% of all ticks and fleas on the animal. The medication will also destroy the fleas’ eggs and larvae. By destroying the eggs and larvae, new fleas will no longer be able to appear. The medication kills all the dangerous ticks, including those that transmit diseases.
The medication is water resistant, so the effect will not be lost even if the animal goes out for a swim or takes a bath. Frontline Plus has 3 applications that can provide protection for up to three months.
The medication is applied once a month between the shoulder blades of the dog. To apply, take out the applicator from the package. Cut the plastic tab to reveal the foil. Open the applicator and hold up. Snap off the tip. Apply between the animal’s shoulder blades.
This flea product is only for dogs weighing 11 to 22 lbs and at least eight weeks old. Do not apply it on dogs that do not fit in this category. Do not use this medication on cats.
Advantage for Cats
Advantage for cats is a topical flea treatment that is applied once a month. The treatment works by killing the pests before the flea larvae are able to hatch. By killing the fleas early, laying of eggs is prevented. This eliminates the chances of infestation. It also reduces the odds of the cat developing allergy from the fleas.
Advantage can stop fleas in under 6 minutes. It can destroy 99% of the larvae in under 20 minutes. 98% of all the fleas will die in 12 hours. All the chewing lice will be eliminated in a week. The treatment is waterproof.
This treatment is for cats at least eight weeks old and between 8 to 19 lbs. Correctly applied it will prevent re-infestation up to a month. There are six applications included in the package.
K9 Advantix Flea Control for Dogs
K9 Advantix flea control for dogs is a topical application applied monthly. The medication will kill 98% to 100% of the fleas in under 13 hours. The treatment can also repel mosquitoes that carry various diseases as well as ticks.
This treatment is water resistant. The package comes with 6 applicators, good for six months of use. The treatment is best applied prior to the start of flea season. The medication is made for dogs at least seven weeks old and weighing 21 to 55 lbs. This medication is not to be used for cats.
No matter which flea product you use, it is imperative that you read the instructions thoroughly. Apply only the amount specified. If the dog shows an adverse reaction, stop treatment immediately and take the animal to a vet.
